Fall is here and harvest is underway for most of our area. Our grain facilities located in Mazomanie, Mineral Point, Richland Center, and Westby are anxiously awaiting this year’s crop. A few weeks ago, the Premier grain team spent the day reviewing safety and operational procedures to better prepare to serve our members’ needs during the upcoming season. Whether you need help hauling this year’s crop to the elevator or are still looking to finalize your grain marketing plan, give us a call. Our knowledgeable staff is looking forward to working with you to make this year’s harvest as safe and smooth as possible. Our team will do their best to meet your needs and they always appreciate the communication of trucking needs and your planned delivery dates. Thanks for your support and please be safe this harvest season.
While there are a few minor details to tie off, the long-awaited expansion project to our Mineral Point mill was completed in September. Along with doubling the loadout and receiving capacity, the new texturized calf feed mixing tower sets our manufacturing capabilities apart from the competition, producing some of the highest quality and consistent product in the industry. In addition to the calf tower, this project also included additional overhead storage for bulk and micro ingredients, expanded warehouse, and a fully automated finished product bagging line with robotic palletizer. Along with the expansion to the Westby mill completed just last year, our feed division is well positioned to support the growth from our livestock nutrition team and to grow as the Premier feed supplier in the Midwest.
Our Mineral Point facility is also completing a grain project just in time for harvest. This project included adding a new bin, a redesign of inbound grain to maximize unload speed, as well as safety enhancements and automation for employee retention. If you’re bringing grain into Mineral Point this fall, you may see a few contractors wrapping up, but the heavy work is complete and ready for harvest.
While I mentioned a couple of the larger projects, there are many other projects that are completed each year that may not get as much attention. Large or small, each project across the company has a focus to increase safety, add value for our members, improve employee satisfaction, and grow the business. I look forward to sharing more as these and other future projects get put into service.
Whether you are out enjoying the weather on our beautiful country roads this fall, or helping to bring in this year’s crop, please remember to slow down and be safe. I hope everyone has a successful harvest and a great month.
